A desktop QR code scanner
for Windows.

Scan a QR code already on your PC from the screen, clipboard, an image, or a PDF. You can also use a webcam or batch-scan a folder. Decoding runs locally in Rust, so your scans stay on your machine.

Webcam & screen capture

Scan from a camera, your whole screen, or pick a region across monitors.

Drop in images or PDFs. Each page scanned. Batch entire folders.

Classifies URLs, Wi‑Fi, vCards, crypto, email, SMS, geo, and plain text.

Link safety preview

See a preview before opening URLs. Optional offline mode skips network lookups.

Local SQLite history

Every scan recorded on your machine. Nothing sent to the cloud.

One job, done well

Not a barcode suite or document scanner. QR codes only. That’s the point.

Scan QR codes already on your PC.

MadeBasic Scan is built for the awkward moment when a QR code is on the Windows computer you are already using.

How do I scan a QR code from my screen?

Capture the full screen or select a region across one or more monitors. MadeBasic Scan reads the code from the capture without needing a phone.

Can it read QR codes from images and PDFs?

Yes. Open an image or PDF, paste an image from the clipboard, or choose a folder for batch scanning. Every PDF page is checked.

Are QR codes uploaded anywhere?

No. QR decoding and scan history stay local. Link previews can use the network, but offline privacy mode disables those lookups.

Offline and private, on your desktop.

Decoding runs locally with the rqrr library in Rust. No cloud service, no phone required.
